First Flight 2008

Yes, we were out there on New Year’s Day!  Mike and Vern were first on the scene at about 5:45.   Bob was next then Sam, Roger, me, Charlie, and Gene.   It was cold and windy  but with the fresh snow and the little light in the sky, it wasn't as dark as normal. 

Of course they twisted my arm and talked me into taking off in 15 mph winds gusting to who knows...  The temp was like 17 with a wind chill in the single digits.   Off I went in a very sloppy take off and flew for about 5 minutes but, landed safely. 

I got the First Flight patch for a 6:16am takeoff.  There was no first crash so, keep an eye out for who will get that award.
